Zelon

In 1985, Blue Ribbon Flies and John Betts purchased the world’s supply of raw Zelon from DuPont. Since that time, it has proven to be one of the most versatile and widespread fly tying materials of all time. We have incorporated Zelon into countless patterns, and after twenty years it remains the main tenant in most of our fly designs today.

All of the Zelon in the world comes from either Umpqua or Blue Ribbon Flies. We dye all of our Zelon right here in West Yellowstone to match more than forty custom colors, and most of it has hung to dry on this sophisticated piece of equipment in the BRF workshop.

Improved Micro Zelon $ 3.99
Now with more bounce and less bulk, our improved micro-zelon is even better. This improved version floats better, ties like a dream and makes very fine bodies when wrapped. With just enough crinkle and just enough shine, this is our new favorite.

Straight Zelon $ 3.99
Many of you have been asking us to offer straight zelon as well as the crinkled variety we have sold for years. We are happy to do so, after finding an economical way of keeping the zelon straight during the dying procedure.

Zelon Dubbing $ 2.50
A few years ago, we created this dubbing to replace a discontinued favorite of ours, the Oregon Upstream Series. What we came up with was something even better, a blend of natural furs and various shades of shredded zelon.
